Alif Ailaan Pakistan District Education Rankings 2014 | ||
|
On April 16, 2014, elearn.Punjab Team participated in the event organized by Alif Ailaan. Where Alif Ailaan Pakistan launched the District Education Rankings 2014, the second edition of ground-breaking study, first published in May 2013, to take stock of the state of education across Pakistan’s 146 districts. This year’s rankings allow to track progress (or the lack thereof) in improving the quality of education across the country. By comparing the performance of districts in two areas—learning outcomes and the state of school facilities, nthe rankings enable politicians, policy makers, education providers, academics, the media and citizens to better understand education issues at the local level. In developing this system of rankings, our goal has been to inform the political debate around education in Pakistan, foster a competitive spirit in public-sector education delivery, and encourage transparency in the management of education. Close to 400 participants joined for this year’s launch of the Alif Ailaan Pakistan District Education Rankings 2014, while another 260 watched the launch live online. The Rankings received coverage in major English and Urdu newspapers, and on television. Speakers included renowned politicians and prominent members of the civil society and eLearn.Punjab representative who spoke with passion about the state of education in their areas and reiterated their commitment to education reform.

eLearn Punjab is an important component in Punjab's education roadmap. For the first time in Pakistan we are making our textbooks freely available online, augmented with a lot of supplementry material. We have made this platform to also crowdsource content from our users, which will make textbooks richer and enhance the overall learning experience.
